Good, glad to hear it. On the Mac, interacting is the key. When I
switched from windows I had to forget everything I knew as I would
confuse myself. In particular, the use of the tab key. I found that
I didn't get the same results on the Mac as I did on the windows
box. :)

You are not interacting. Press control+option+shift+down arrow to
interact. Then choose the category you want by pressing control
+option +down or up arrow depending upon the direction you want to
go. When you are where you want to be then press control+option
+backslash to expand or contract the list. VO keys equals control
+option
