VO/J command not working...

Hi all:
  Still can't get the VO/J command to function.
I do see the messages table and my msgs but can't VO/J to read the  
body of the msgs.
Now, I have to shift,VO keys and M  and then select open. It's not a  
big deal but it does slow me down a little. I enjoy the jump command.
A list of things to try might be helpful.
