Good evening,

I removed the checkmark for avi in Quicktime. It appears that Windows media Player, from a Windows XP Virtual Machine under Fusion is now the default avi player.

How do I make VLC in OS X the default?

Thanks,
Everett

Hi Everett,

Open quicktime player, choose quicktime preferences under the quicktime menu, click mimetypes button and choose the video types from the table and
vo-space on it till it says unchecked.

Subject: Making VLC the default player

Good evening,

Are there steps for making VLC the default AVI player?

I tried control clicking on an AVI file and choosing Always Open With > VLC,
but AVIs are still opening by default in Quicktime.

Thanks,
Everett
