In mud walker even in combat sometimes you can keep up with information depending on the game. After typing the command "kill" for example, hit tab key, then VO keys shift and (ed) key which keeps you at the bottom of the incomming text, you can still of course type what ever your skills are to use in combat, but seems like any time I type, have to hit tab key first, then the key combo written above, then don't have to hear everything for 10 moves before. When in the bottom of the text though you will have to move around with VO keys and arrow left and right so you can get off of your score line, ad hear what's going on. But I tend to play simple games like medievia and mudlegend which work ok with mudwalker well medievia does, mudlegend lately, have just clicked on the telnet link on home page and played in terminal which is slower moving around with VO sometimes. Sometimes though you are apt to die whether you are hearing it or not, VO and ED key periodically as you see the refreshing of your score will give you a quick clue that you are dying, but whether you can flee in time is a different matter. When I find the link for mudwalker again will post it through the list, but some muds do have telnet links which can allow you to play it in terminal.

Have played with mud cliant Atlantis and it's somewhat accessible for vo, but didn't play around with it enough to know how accessible it was. It would never access the particular game I had downloaded it for, and only tried it briefly on another game or two. But mudwalker seemed a little more stable as far as VO was concerned verses Atlantis, but Atlantis is more complex I think.

here is the problem with mac osx
you can get the mud clients to read the text for you automatically using the speech of the mac. but it works like sapi in windows in that you can't shut it up smile now, voice over can be used to read the muds but if you are in combat by the time you have read what's going on you are probably killed. Compare this to say, VIP mud in windows. Jaws and window-eyes automatically read the incoming game text for you leaving your hands free to play the game

I am trying to find a mud client that works at least well enough where I can play muds somewhat. Anyone here use one that works pretty decently and if so how do you use it and actually get it to work? Thanks.
