Actually after playing a video file, bring up a context menu on the
file you just played, (I believe this works on any item in the song
list) and there will be an option to close the video window. Once you
do this the lists and such should read as normal. YOu don't need to
exit out of ITunes if this is the issue.
However, if it's something else such as VO having some trouble
rendering large lists, (which I'm not familiar with) then I'd first
try restarting VO itself before exiting ITunes.

exiting itunes and reopening it works..

Itunes is not dead. Voiceover is just not reading the sources
table and the songs table. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
