Simon, first you do not need the AirPort Disk utility. Secondly, not
sure what you had previously if any router. If you had an AirPort
Express it is possible to copy settings if you will, but it depends
upon the configuration etc. Point is the setup shouldn;t have been so
difficult. Are you in the U.S? I can give you a yell if you need some
questions answered or we can get on SKype. The Time Capsule is more an
AirPort Extreme and backup solution combined into one unit. The
Express shares a number of similar features, but is yet different
unless they have made a lot of changes.

Dear Listers,
I'm exhausted but also trimphant because I've just managed - I think
I have managed - to set up my time capsule with airport express.
This promising device seems to combine airport express and time
capsule. However, having been assured by the shop assistant where I
had bought the device that it should pick up all my settings
automatically - I have spent the last 3 hours trying to do so as it
didn't do anything automatically. I have consequently a very red hot
face, and my heart's thumping.
Luckily, it seems that I am connected to the internet which is a
great relief.
prior to having bought the airport express/cum time capsule in one -
ż I had been connecting to the internet via an ethernet connection
and modem given to me by my ISP provider, virgin media. The shop
assistant told me that all I had to do was to connect the ethernet
cable to the airport express/time capsule and that my computer
should pick everything else up automatically. How mistaken I was to
believe that.
Anyway, I think all is wwell and working for now although I expect
some unexpected problems in the future.
Listers, I have in my utilities folder under applications two
apploications: airport disc utility and airport application. When I
try to launch the airport disk utility I get a message that this
application is not supported by the architecture. What does it mean?
Also, listers, Should you have any helpful tips on using airport
express/cum time capsule with Mac on which I also run windows under
bootcamp - although I shall soon be running windows under fusion,
please let me know. This is all rather technical, I feel very much
adrift and frightened. My work depends on my computer, I can't
afford to lose any communications related to work or appointments.
Thanks in advance for any tips you can give me. I have followed very
carefully all the threads realating to time capsule airport express
on the list in the knowledge that one day I will be going that way
but it is all very different when you are actually doing it without
the depth computer knowledge some of you/many of you have on the list.
With many thanks
Simon
