Dear all,

I have tried OOo 2.0 Beta as well as Suns Beta on two different
engines (Sempron 3000, 1 GB Ram and Athlon 64 3200 Winchester, 512 MB
RAM) both with Windows XP and Linux (OOo only) with recent Nvidia
GFX-cards.
On both machines many of the effects are unacceptable slow and show a
stuttering behaviour even with simple objects such as text, boxes and
circles (on Linux I even noticed some rendering mistakes). I use many
of the newly implemented effects in my PowerPoint-presentations (and
no I do not use them because I have them but because they serve a
special purpose in my lectures) but the now nicely converted
PP-presentations (as well as new ones I made) are unusable due to the
slow performance. I tried to increase the memory and cache for OOo and
for individual object, turned on OpenGL-support, reduced the number of
colours and the resolution with no or minimal effect.

Am I doing anything wrong or is this a problem others have encountered
too. If so what are the plans to enhance the rendering speed prior to
the final 2.0 release?

Don't get me wrong! I *LOVE* OOo (I am using it since 1.0), and I am
very grateful to all the people who spend their time, heart and soul
on this project, but in order to do the switch in our lecture hall
this performance issue needs to be addressed. Feature-wise this is now
easily possible.

Regards,
 Stephan
