I think that a layer should be created so that people can use whatever
Media Player the want whether it's Windows Media Player, iTunes,
QuickTime, WinAmp, [put in your favorite FLOSS media player here], or
something else.

We could base it on the gecko engine as we already have a lot of the
Mozilla code in OOo.

This would be VERY helpful.

I think I've heard of some project somewhere or other that does this.
Could OOo possibly offer links to there somewhere on the website, or
else make it a permanent CWS here or something so that people can get
an official version of it from OOo?

I like the about.com C++ tutorial. Good spring board. Then you have to
swim as hard as you can out of the UNO manual.

What needs to be done?

I'm currently working on a project that had some intial steam in 2003
but seems not to have done hardly anything in the area I'm working
with since. I'm working on Silver Onion, a replacement of the (dead?)
toolkit2 chrome layer.
