A clarification:

Helix Player for Linux is a tri-licensed RPSL/RCSL/GPL-compatible free software media player supporting codecs like Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Theora, and SMIL.

RealPlayer for Linux builds on Helix Player by adding support for formats like RealVideo, RealAudio, MP3, Flash, etc. Some of these are binary only components.

Linux users have access to all formats supported by the helix client engine through RealPlayer for Linux.

The patch in the Open Office tracker works with both Helix Player and RealPlayer on linux.

The work could be extended to work on all platforms supported by helix, including Windows, Mac, and Linux.
