For those of you interested in the 3D/4D database thread ( http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/BrowseList?list=discuss&by=thread&from=786829 ) where I mentioned I'd post a link to my database diagram, here it is (in both PDF and ODT). I ended up desining this as a relational database so that I could specify in the database what all of the options were. I'm now using Base to create the database in MySQL for a three fold purpose. 1) find any major bugs and provide feedback in IZ 2) create the database 3) have an initial input/output method for the database. Note however, that I plan to make a web based interface to the database, possibly residing on my SpyMac account as well... (though my database will reside on a site elsewhere). I would love feedback on my design. Is this a good design for the purpose? Any suggestions on ways to improve? Is there something that isn't clear? Do you see any problems I might run into?
It took me a little longer to post the link than i'd of liked, but I had to find a place where I didn't care about bandwidth. Download as much as you like here. I signed up for this service a year or so ago curious about it, but haven't ever used it, so now I have a use. http://techgurufloyd.spymac.net/diagram.pdf http://techgurufloyd.spymac.net/diagram.odt DISCLAIMER: I think I've found a weird bug. When I saved this document it seemed to go wacko and lose the positioning of some arrows (Polygons with line ends). Sorry. I'll have to do some testing some time. You can see in the PDF where the arrows are _supposed_ to go. Next chance I get I'll search for an issue and report this if there isn't an issue for it. Cheers, Jacob PS I should give credit where some credit is due. Part of the inspiration (if you wish to call it that) for this database was www.cmsmatrix.org the rest came from several late nights sitting up wondering how to store all the research I accumulate in doing this so that others don't have to repeat it as much (I dislike duplicate efforts where they can be avoided). That and I knew I'd need help poring through all the manuals to get the API calls necessary, meaning some kind of storage location that could be used by anyone who wanted to as well as allowing just about anyone to input data. I still need to make sure I have a way to prevent spamming of the database though. I'll continue to ponder this. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
