How about instead, integrating either an open-source, or hand made screen capture utility directly into the OOo component platform, as a seperate component that would be called directly from within resident memory?
This way. When person needs to file an issue, they can walk through the steps, capturing the relevant screen views, and then fill out a relevant error report, referencing those screen shots, and tell the developers "Hey. This is what happened. Here's the visual in case I dont' know what I'm talking about"
After the screen captures have been made, they can be automaticaly packaged into a zip file and left on the persons desktop or in the "My documents" folder, or in the same folder as their project, and they can attach it to an issue :)
Good idea? Bad Idea?

I think this is a good idea.

The problem is, if the program crashes or the computer freezes or if an error is occurring, it would seem unlikely that a call to an external program would work.

What I find best, if I don't have time to load a better screen capture program, is to hit *Print Screen*. On Windows at least this does a screen capture I can then paste into a graphics program and save and attach to an issue.

If I have time I use MWSnap, this is a nice little free program I was pointed to. It has lots of features but is small.

Hope this helps.
