For those computers, that support it, I think it would be helpful to setup some walkthrough tutorials using Flash technology, or VBA (Visual Basic For applications). This may provide the opportunity to walk the user through common tasks if they're just learning the OOo interface, and get them started without them wading through volumes of material.
If someone wants to get this ball rolling, it would be a great idea, to me at least. I understand the restraint on resources, and we may need to put this aside as a future project, or for version three of OOo.
