In excell:
All the print functions are in 'File' option....
- If you are viewing (say) sheet 2, when you hit the 'print' button, it
prints sheet 2.
- View sheet 1 now, hit print, it prints sheet 1.
- Page setup and margins works independantly on individual sheets
- Print areas are there if you want them

..except
- 'page break preview' which is in 'View'

.... this is very logical for my wife. What you are viewing is what is
printed by default, rather that what is set up in obscure 'Format'
areas.

The main issue is that what is printed isn't what you are looking at.
In fact even OO 'text document' (Word equivalent) works as you'd
expect, because it prints what you are viewing.

So the default ought to be to print whatever you are viewing, and if
you want to do different, then use the more advanced options provided.
As it is now you have to use advanced options (advanced for my wife)
just to do a simple print.

... yes she has, and the problem you have noted she hates. Also, you
can nicely format the notes in Excell, and you most definitely can't in
OO. Formatted notes from Excell stay formatted in OO (fortunately).

... I haven't used 2.0 beta, but I suspect that the problems I've
described will still be present.

I'm trying to get my kids to use OO, but they prefer to use Word
because they understand it. Nevertheless, OO is all they get on there
machines!
