Yes, agreed. We planned to allow shortcut assignment in the "Styles And
Formatting" window but dropped that due to time pressure.

But what's so bad with having the stylist open? If you followed your
path consequently you could end up with a toolbar item for most
attributes you can think of. Maybe an optional toolbar control (not
visible by default) would be a good compromise.
