just tested this with m104 & thunderbird 1.0.2 in slackware-current.
works as expected (though it takes some time for mail message to open
and there is no indication that something is happening)
tools -> options -> internet -> e-mail. selected 'thunderbird' (the
wrapper script) as e-mail program

Have you actually tried sending from that? The email window may seem
empty, but the attachment may be present and not announced by the
emailer. I've seen this in other emailers--including Outlook. It's
rare, and to this non-programmer, it acts like a stray electron.
That would be very strange. But in any event, I did try it, and didn't
work.
Cheers,
Daniel.
I did that on Windows, select external program, then Mozilla and then
pointed to
Thunderbird and the test went ok. I am not sure if there is a OS-issue.
