Ah, I see. That's a problem of software engineers (like me): sometimes
they tend to see things too technical. :-) Sorry for that.

So let's look on the MacTel/OOo story from the market perspective.
IMHO it's still open wether "MacTel" will be a success, a disaster or
none of both. *If* it became a huge success and the market share of the
Mac increased dramatically it will very probably increase the demand for
the OOo MAC version. That's only natural, I assume.

My personal opinion (I'm not speaking for the OOo project or Sun!) is
that for technical reasons ;-) it's doubtfull that a higher demand for a
MAC version will create a higher possibility for its availability. The
problem of the MAC version is that even with a hypothetical MAC market
share of 10% (roughly the doubled share from today) the huge effort to
create the port it still doesn't make it tempting from a commercial POV
(as long as Apple itself doesn't work on it), so the work to do is still
up to the volunteers.

I agree that there is some hope that a larger MAC community could yield
more volunteer developers working on the OOo port(s), just from simple
statistical calculations. ;-)

Best regards,
Mathias
