Delmar,
I cannot get any data out of "My Account.oss", even with your password
I get a blank file. Your only hope is to reinstall the originating
software, open these files with it and save them in a more transferable
format. You are going to have to do this yourself as I do not have a
copy of the software.
Maybe, someone else has some ideas.
Best,
Alex

HI
The password for 'My Account.oos' is: xxxxxxxxx
I forget what version it was exactly. Could you maybe save it in Excel, or
Word for now so that I can at least get my hands on it once? Then I'll see
if I can find the right version of the program, and see if that works.
Thanks.

I tried opening these files with OOo 1.9.125.
o My Account.oos - I was prompted for a password when opening.
o Custom Baling Records.oos - I got a empty spreadsheet. I can extract
the individual xml files with a zip format archive program and can read
the xml, so the contents are apparently still intact. Settings.xml says
xmlns:office="urn:oasis:names:tc:openoffice:xmlns:office:1.0"
o Wedding Invitation.ood - got error on opening "/All
Users/Documents/Roydon/My Documents/My Pictures/Roydon's Pics/Engagement
Pictures 003.jpg does not exist." It did then open as a drawing andI
was able to save in latest format.
o Wedding Directions.ood - opens and I saved in the latest version.
o Wedding Bulletin.oot - opens but only has header text, no body text.
has a 2 column layout.
o You are my Sunshine.oot - opens but yields an empty document. Here
again, when xml files are extracted, all are readable and so the data is
still there. I can read the text you originally entered although it is
buried in xml.
What is the name and version of the software you used to create these files?
I suggest that you reinstall the exact software with which you created
these files, open and resave in a transferable format.
Maybe someone else can tell me what version of OOo would create .oos,
.oot and .ood file types.
Best,
Alex

Alex, I really appreciate you responding so kindly.
No, I have not been able to fix this thing yet. A few of the 'wedding'
files
I was able to open with 'Textmaker 2005', as was suggested by Justin. But
the 'My Account' and 'custom baling records' I know did not work. I also
know they were both spreadsheets. Most of these don't have much in there
(just a few pages or less).
The wedding files are for my brother's wedding, so it would be really
great
it they could work. We need that information.
If you can open them and find information in there, could you save it in
one
of Microsoft Office files or something. What ever, let me know what you can
do. Thanks a lot!

Delmar,
Do you still have a problem?
Is it as you originally stated?
If so, email me a problem file if you can and I will try to open it via
the latest beta of OOo.
If you cured your problem, I'm curious to know what you did to fix it.
Best,
Alex

Thanks for the response; I did not save a backup to a disk, but I did save
it to another computer. So that's not the problem. I have copies of the
original files.

I had a bunch of stuff saved as OpenOffice files. I then reformatted
my hard drive, and reinstalled OpenOffice. But now when I open the
file, it just brings me a blank template with nothing in there. That’s
useless for me. I need my information back. Please help me out in
this. Thanks….

Delmer,
As you are not subscribed to this list, you may not have seen posts
related to your message.
Basically, if you did not make a backup copy of your data on other media
before you formatted your HD, you cannot recover your files. This has
nothing to do with OpenOffice.org. It has to do with the format process
erasing all data on your HD.
There is nothing, that I know of, that anyone on this list or anywhere
can do to recover your data.
Always make backup copies on removable media or external HDs. A USB
drive is a good choice.
Best,
Alex
