Hi Steve As another concerned user let me welcome you aboard! You seem very good at explanining, and sure the screenshot would help even better. For describing and handling bugs like this, there is a very good system.
You need to register, then you can post both the description you already made, and the screenshots, and they will be handled gracefully. -I know because my issue was :) Got to http://www.openoffice.org/ and click My Pages, register. ...You'll understand the rest :) Before entering the issue, however, try to see if you can find it already reported: at left cklick "Find issue" or: http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi Clicking "File issue" first get you to a nice page about posting issues, it is worth reading, inclusive some linked pages.
