I don't believe there is no intention of including an email client
(although being a much asked for addition). There are plenty
available (open source that is) which can fill the gap if required.

Will the next stable OpenOffice have an email program included in it ?
Not a bad idea that, what about a full featured offering like Proper
Outlook then it really will be a full challenge to MSaFt .. especially
if it was a bit like ACT and kept track of contacts etc..

Not to include one would be a real shame.. That and Frontpage are
the two major advantages office still holds over OOo. Outlook is a good
e-mail client with moderate contact tracking capabilities that suit a
lot of small businesses, Integrate it with act and it becomes far more
powerful.
Correct me if I am wrong but I have not yet found and open source E-mail
client that offer anywhere near the same level of functionality. PLUS
Msoft offer Outlook as part of their Office Suite because they
recognised that some people might want to do more with an e-mail client
hence the difference between Outlook EXPRESS and Outlook.. Might be
worth someone with the ability looking into writing a contact management
module..
