Go to VIEW/TOOLBARS and uncheck all the toolbars you don't want, and check
all the ones you do want. If there are icons in a toolbar that you don't
want to display, but you want the rest of the toolbar to display, click the
dropdown arrow at the end of the toolbar, hover over "Visible Buttons" and
uncheck any you don't want to show.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [discuss] configure toolbars to be non-automatic?

Hello,

I have just been using OpenOffice.org 2.0.3 for the first time, and I
found the automatic pop-up behaviour of toolbars disconcerting,
particularly their prolific growth at the top of the application. I
would much prefer to be able to choose which toolbars were there, and to
use the menus for things not in my chosen toolbars.

I have searched around in the help system, the menus, the configuration,
and the Internet, but I can't find a way to turn off this
context-sensitive pop-up behaviour. I would really like to be able to do
this, is it possible?

Regards,
