Dear OpenOffice.org,
Firstly I must say that I love OpenOffice.Org. It's quite useful and
practical, and the best is it's open source and free.
I use OpenOffice.Org 2.0.3, portuguese (pt) version, for Windows.
I'm writting this e-mail to you to suggest a new feature: OCR (Optical
Character Recognition), a technology that allows to recognize text
characters from an image file. This could be used to convert text from
images to .odt documents.
Just for the record, Microsoft Office has something similar, called
Microsoft Office Document Scanning, which is part of Microsoft Office
Document Imaging. Here's the official site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/assistance/hp010771031033.aspx
I don't know if it is possible to apply this feature in open source
software, but I leave here my suggestion. I think this feature would be
appreciated by many OpenOffice.Org users.
Another suggestion: .mdb (Microsof Access) files compatibility, through
OpenOffice.Org's Base, if possible.
Thank you.
Bests regards,
Marco Carreira
