Maybe a slight misunderstanding, to clarify on this: when importing a document created in a Japanese Excel environment using the JIS() function into an English Excel environment, the JIS funtion's name is displayed as DBCS (derived from DoubleByteCharacterSet) but the function doesn't seem to have any functionality. So I wondered whether there are other localized environments where the DBCS equivalent does something meaningful but different than in a Japanese environment. Eike -- OOo/SO Calc core developer.
