To whom it may concern, I'd like to start off that I am a big fan of OpenOffice and all open source philosophy regarding the matter. I do not love open source because of anti-big business sentiment, I believe in it because in a world full of boundary's of location, knowledge and free will, it is comforting to know there is a huge living breathing community that sacrifices personal gains over expression of sheer talent and passion and beliefs. Unfortunately I have not been able to use OpenOffice lately on account of many friends using my computer for music because I have a really sweet sound system and tons of music... I'm sure they could use Linux with a little knowledge of all the different program names, but marijuana is a big issue occasionally and then I'd have to explain it a few times each (we do not use illegal drugs and do not condone any illegal drugs on the premises at any time).
What I'd love to see happen with office suites is specific usability for different tasks or professions; mainly writing. Example; If someone is a writer working on a story, the program could "read" the work and notice trends in misuse of grammar, often repeated words, words spelled consistently wrong, or other noticeable errors that detract from the story, I'm aware that this is not new technology at all, but if the program could offer notifications of exactly what the errors are and many different ways to correct them, the writer WILL gain a more valuable and worthwhile experience with the program. I lack the knowledge and skill of programming, but maybe somebody who lacks my handicap is like minded and would love to see this positive change in OpenOffice! To my knowledge this has not been a feature of word processors in the past (yet I cannot say I study current technology of Office Suites in depth). Feel free to reply, Andrew Wise
