voila there you have your interaction and combination
Thanks for your reply!
This is truly a possibility.
But read your lines again: How many steps has somebody !who didn't study
programming! to take, till he /she reaches the point you mentioned???
And then, there is no interaction between these two - well, I didn't
find it.
SIMPLE!
SIMPLE should it be!
... this is the way users want to work with their computer!
Not to study what an OLE-Object is, and what it can do for you. :-)
Sorry.
On the other hand - it's a solution, but not really what I asked for.
Paste an object in a Sheet. Well, there it is. But when you click on
another cell, it's still there, but yeah ok, without frame.
Ok, so now you want to keep an overview with your spreadsheet, and then
you want to record some details with your linked text document.
Details you already typed in at the sheet, and don't want to do it again.
Then there is no place for this large doc on your screen anymore. It
should drop into the background to come back again when needed and no
problem if it is handled as a separate Writer-Doc (BUT organized from
the sheet!).
There are so many useful applications for this. Just think of small
(one-man) business who wants to account his services. He can buy a small
billing solution, or can start his SHEET-TEXT combination and set it up
for printing his bills. Nothing more.
Typing his clients details in the sheet, printing it with the linked
writer document, with all the details (and more if he wants to paste
them into the writer document - a picture for instance).
The fields of the writer doc to the sheet should be adressable as they
are in the sheet itself.
With the sheet you have the OVERVIEW and with the writer you build up a
kind of database of documents, organized by your sheet.
Hope everybody understands now, what I mean, and what a lot of people
need. :-)
OneNote is a primitve approach into this direction. A very primitve as
you need VB skills to call up a note from within the sheet, and it's a
one-way street. But better then nothing. On clicking a button you're
able to transfer some text (and e.g. calculated values) via the
clipboard to a new or existing note (if you know the number of the note)
and create a nice arrangement of your data (for storing, better viewing,
printing, etc...).
Here is a link where I found the VB-Script on linking to OneNote. Not
easy, but it works: http://www.trigeminal.com/code/guids.bas
Hope you all find, that my effort in this direction is worth the
engagement! If not, I will quit my subscribtion to this list immediately.
Thanks
Peter
