Used a mouse for 20 years and never had RSI - I think there is plenty of evidence that typing is more likely to induce RSI than using a mouse. My sister is an ergonomist who is a bit of an expert on RSI and most of the avoidance strategies seem related to using the keyboard, not the mouse. Choice is good, use the interface that you are most comfortable with.
