Oops--you're right. I focused on the jumping and had come across the Issue before.

I assume the action you describe above is simply switching into Word's "Normal" mode? I.e. without showing physical pages.

If so, that's Issue 4914 (an old mossy one ;-):
"normal" view option needed

Doesn't look like this one is likely to appear any time soon.

The top post here actually sounds like a combination of these two problems.

If you're doing a lot more reading than editing, you may want to try a) Writer's "web layout" (no page breaks), or b) turning off editing mode (still has page breaks but allows smoother scrolling), or c) exporting to PDF (Acrobat reader has a continuous view and more flexible scrolling.
