Actually, while I wrote my original request making it sound like it's for
me, it's really mostly for my wife whose working literature and has trouble
managing the umpteen versions of documents she writes.  She's had no real
trouble understanding the notion of "commit" (with CS-RCS) and when she
heard of things like concurrent "development" and merging she seemed
interested rather than scared.

So I know such tools can be very profitable to non-programmers.

While I can't think of any situation where I'd want to use such a thing, I'm
sure there may be good use-cases for such "revision-info inside the
document".  It's a completely separate problem.  AFAIK OOo already
supports this.

Yes, I know of SVK.  But just like Monotone, Mercury, Git, Svn, CVS,
etc... it's no use to my wife until there is support for it directly
from OOo.  This said, OOoSVN may provide just what I need (tho it looks
like I'll have to port it to Mac OS X).
