This issue is very dependant on the contents of the file and type of image. Typically OOo converts large image formats (eg, bmp) to a compressed format (eg, png, jpg). In some quick tests that I did it seems that the compression ratio's for OOo were about the same as what is used in MS word. Overall however the file sizes for OOo's native file format (.odt) are much smaller than the commonly used Word format (.doc). I also wish that the columns feature didn't convert everything on > the screen > to columns. If only part of a manuscript could be marked (blocked), > and then > converted to columns, it would be an even more powerful word processor. It can. Simply highlight the paragraph that you want converted then select format > columns... Then selec the options you want. This will then change only the paragraph that you selected into columns. /paul -- Processing Key for cracking HD DVD's: 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0 ----- Try Torpark; a small portable, open-source, built on Firefox browser that enables anonymous browsing.
