The virtue of opensource is that if somebody has the desire and the
ability to create something different, they can do so. In this
instance, if you can create themes for OOo, do so.

They can be created in ">Tools >Options >Colours", if you want to do
it the hard way.
(The easy way is to edit the colour palette with a text editor.)

You can add/create tables within a textbox.

Or were you wanting the ability to create styles for tables? if so,
then I do think that that would be an improvement.

That requires adjusting the parameters of the style that the text box
uses. (This is trivial to do in stylist.)

That one does need work.

Maybe. I haven't yet used the new charts, despite the fact that it
finally implements the type of chart that is standard in my field.

This needs some clarification. Are you talking about the shapes in
the gallery, or the shapes that are in Draw for editing, or something
else?

There are several patent issues involved with implementing DocX. That
said, Some versions of OOo can import DocX documents. (How well is a
separate issue.)

I'm not sure what you mean here.

For those who haven't used Microsoft products since the days of
TandyBasic, and the Trash80, in what way does MS Word render text that
OOo doesn't do?
