Hello,

I am helping a small company to migrate from MS Office (Windows) to
OpenOffice.org (GNU/Linux). One of the biggest problems I came across is the
missing native support for smb shares. Although I could mount the smb server
share to a local directory, this resolves the problem only partially -
sometimes users open files from another person's Windows PC, and it's
nonsence to mount all Windows PCs locally. The user simply wants to be able
to browse the network and open and edit files seamlessly.

I consider this to be a major drawback that hampers the Windows to
GNU/Linux
migration. Is full SMB support planned anytime soon? IMHO this should not be
a big problem as there are plenty of FOSS applications with SMB support - I
mean it is something that is already implemented elswere.

Best regards,
