If you go to the support section of the OOo website you may find more/more up to date material. By the way, my mail client calls these files ZIP archives because that is what OOo files are, but they will open in OOo, you don't have to unzip them. For greek letters, use Insert > Special Symbols. You will need to select a font that supports a good range of Basic Greek characters. Times New Roman seems the best to me.
