are you saying that OOo stylist can convert to styles everything it
finds in already existing .doc files, use them as such while editing
those documents and still recognize those styles when that documents
comes back after:

- being saved in .doc format
- being sent to MS Office users who edit it as they please
- going back to the OOo users who created those styles or to another
  one who had never seen the previous versions?

unless this is true, all yours and Jonathon's technical comments
simply don't apply in this particular case, do they?
