Because you need to go to a different site and download and install what
is a separate package? I don't think it is necessary to bundle at
download - in fact its a good idea not to or the download file becomes
unmanageably big. Maybe distribute on a DVD but that is a bit different.

Ok, so it's not perfect, things rarely are. What matters is does
"putting a link on the download page saying if you want a replacement
for outlook here is/are possibilities" make things better or worse? I'd
say better based on the number of questions about an Outlook
replacement.

In the above scenario, if they are not going to check out the link to an
Outlook replacement and give up they certainly aren't going to download
and use the thing without any chance of an Outlook replacement.

Precisely and we want maximum take up. Some of those new users might
even contribute support to the ones that complain for one reason or
another.
