Hey Russel,
thanks for the info. I am using your solution 1. It is working. But I
will try your second solution!
Thanks,
Tim

Dear OO-Team,
today, I stumbled over a tiny problem concerning writing aids: the
custom dictionaries. It is not possible to have more than 2000 words
in one dictionary.
As I share a dictionary containing scientific phrases with my whole
group, we have more than 2000 words belonging to one topic.
So my question / suggestion is to expand the content of custom
wordbooks, if it is possible anyways.
Hope to get an answer of you.
With best regards,

Hi Tim
At present there are two potential solutions.
1. break your dictionary up into 2000 word segments and use multiple
dictionaries - Biology 1, Biology 2, etc. You can easily add extra
custom dictionaries from the Tools - Options - Language Settings
dialogue.
2. Make a file containing as many words as you like, I have a Medical
list of some 75000 words I am using at present. Name it with your
language setting - Mine is en_AUMedical.dic and add it to your
OOo_config/user/wordbook for personal use, or
OOo_install/share/dict/ooo directory if you need a system wide dictionary
Then you need to edit the "dictionary.lst" file to add the name of the
dictionary, and restart OOo. You will not see the name in your
languages but it does work.
Downside is that if you want to add or delete words you have to reload
the whole file.
There are several discussions in the archives, the one that got me
started is at

Also a discussion about installation at
