I feel the same, I always wanted, when I ran a retail electronics store
to be able to produce an invoice form with the word processor that would
have embedded blank spaces that when filled in would automatically
calculate labor charges, parts and merchandise prices, total prices,
sales tax etc., with automatic deductions of those items from the
store's inventory. In other words, have database and spreadsheet
functions available WITHIN the word processor. If OpenOffice.org could
do that, it could actually replace most business software, and would
become the ultimate "killer-app".
I did this over a decade ago with a database. It was easy. You entered
the data when you used parts or provided services and all was calculated
when you printed out the customers bill.
The first one I wrote was in Paradox 4.
It integrated the inventory and other service billings.
Maybe someone needs to write business app plug-ins for OOo.
