Hi folks,

My first message here, got problems using Images in my documents... sounds basic... maybe not.

Best way I can describe, is with an example...

In OOo.Draw or OOo.Writer...

Say I have an image which is 600x400 pixels, which is a 3:2 aspect ratio, and I use "Insert | Picture | From File..." I find that if I use the corner points around the edge to resize, it skews the image instead of maintaining the aspect ratio of 3:2. I would only really expect that from resizing from the four straight edge side points. So in OOo.Draw I would "Right Click | Position and Size", then alter the Height or Width, while 'Keep Ratio' is ticked, this way it keeps the 3:2 aspect ratio. Or in OOo.Writer I would "Right Click | Picture" go to the 'Type' tab, tick 'Keep Ratio', and alter the Height or Width, this way it keeps the 3:2 aspect ratio also.

This although it works, its a pain as it only takes effect after the dialogue is closed... so you need several attempts to get it just right. Personally I think the behaviour of the corner points around an image needs to be changed, like any other sane application I've used.

Here comes the major problem for me however...

I am writing a database on OOo.Base and one of the fields holds an Image.
On the form (which is just OOo.Writer) you click the Image (which is an object of fixed height and width) to browse for another image to save into the database. Only problem is it will skew the image to fit to the Image box size, which looks god awful. And since your only filling in the form, not editing the layout of the form - its not like you can just right click and fix it is it?

Am I missing something huge here about these two problems or is it just a major oversight?

Sincerely...
