Open Office is great. The only feature still lacking is the ability to
work with Endnote. Although Open Office has a reference manager, it is
too laborious to type references. Either the ability to link with
endnote or Endnote like function is needed.
Overall a great application

Endnote's "Cite While You Write" facility is designed to work
exclusively with Microsoft products, on the Windows and Mac operating
systems. Being commercial closed source software, you would need to
approach the Endnote developers and request this same functionality for
OOo (OpenOffice.org).

You may wish to take a look at Zotero http://www.zotero.org This is a
cross platform FOSS (Free Open Source Software) which is available as an
extension for the Firefox web browser and OOo.

Dave I agree with your comments about the use of Zotero but I should point out that it also links to MSWord but not the lastest version. Zotero also links to WordPress so it can be used in blogs
