Well a couple of commas would be a great start. Or put the word "free"
where it belongs in the sentence. I mean, hell, it's not that complex a
sentence that it should require more than an 8th grade education to
correct. To ask ME how it should be done simply adds another set of
ideas and paradigms that no marketing types in their right mind would
invite. They either know what they did or may realize they erred, but
it's not my job, it's whoever authored that page. Hype at least should
NEVER intimate information that is incorrect, as this one does.

I'm not so sure of its value since they worded it well in the many other
places where they hype OOo and do a good job of it too. If you want to
take a purist stance on it, the sentence is misleading, but it's OK even
though it causes some people to get the wrong idea and come to the
groups for an explanation, or to me, or wherever, and have them feel
liked to?
I detest misinformation on the 'net and IMO that's a touch of it that
shouldn't be that way and could easily be fixed with a few minute's
attention and none of the hype would be lost at all. To intimate that
MS Office if ever free is folly. Even spammers don't go that far and I
don't think it was intentional.
As for a potential solution, most anyone with a fair to middling
grasp of the English language should be able to see that, as I intimated
above.

I was offering the information I posted in a friendly manner and used a
personal anaecdote to hopefully give some understanding to why I made
the post. Personally I could give a rat's ass whether anyone does
anything about it or not; but OO.o should. The next time it happens
I'll just plain up bitch about it, not try to bring a problem to light
or help to assist in any way.

So, that's about all I have to say on the matter. Either someone does
the right thing or the misrepresentation and false impressions are
allowed to continue; it's that simple.
