No. I should have been more clear. I meant access to both an
incremental or a full download when I referred to an update. The
observation was made when I was having trouble with the beta and
thought perhaps I would download a fresh copy because either my
installed copy was corrupt or I had run into the sort of bugs you
might experience with a Beta version. It was at this point I found I
couldn't get to the menu items (help, update, ...)

But that's not an auto-update in the sense that I think the OP was
meaning - all it does is download the entire new version and install
it - it doesn't actually UPDATE the existing version to the new by
means of an incremental install...at least it never used to....
