Ubuntu comes with GIMP. That has extensive graphic editing including cropping pictures. Prepare your images in GIMP and simply import them to OOo. Also I tend to use Inkscape (Use add remove programs from Ubuntu file menu to get and install it) for vector diagrams these days so you don't really need any drawing tools at all in Writer and Impress. Better and more comprehensive tools are available for free from Ubuntu. My main complaint about OOo on Ubuntu is not that it lacks features but it is rather slow. Personally I would rather features were removed where they ar better implemented in other free software especially if this speeds up the operation of OOo. > changing the brightness or contrast, compressing > storage size if we resized the picture. This makes me very frustrated. All provided by GIMP and more. > 2. Not sure about this as I hardly ever use Impress but if it was a problem I'd probably make notes in a text editor and just import them. > 3.
