If you'll pardon an outsider's viewpoint (I'm just a reader mostly,
don't post much):
Sometimes it's the "Everyone had a bad day now and then" syndrome,
sometimes it's making the mistake of making a post while
emotions/frustrations are still running high, and sometimes, sure, it's
malicious in content or a troll. IMO they should be avoided by the
"public at large" here and just hope they calm down and come back with a
more sensible post asking for assistance. Let the known dedicated list
moderators/members PTB decide whether a response should be proferred.
Remember, you do have to sign up to get your messages posted here for
the most part.
If it was malicious in purpose, the person isn't likely to be back
anyway. Sometimes even a good person will go off half cocked and regret
it, but not having another nick to use, still won't come back. It it was
a troll, then definitely the right thing to do is starve them by
ignoring them.
So the PTB (Powers That Be), IMO, should be allowed to make such
decisions; sometimes the right feather-smooth can make all things good
again without encouraging the person to be like that. If they misjudge,
be kind; but those are the folk who can, if so inclinded, create the
best post for each situation.
In the overall these are very clean, well running groups/lists and
always taking the professional approach is always best.
Just my 2 ยข,
Twayne
