Hello,

OK fare enough.

I wonder if anyone on the list has the relevant clout to contact IBM and ask them what is going on?

Also there is another word processor called garte I think.

It sees any screen reader and goes into accessibility mode.

Is this a possibility for open office to do it as well.

I understand window's shows some sort of flag for screen readers and on this assumption open office could switch all the accessible features on instead of having to hack the registry.

I suppose maybe we would still have to use the java access bridge?

I will leave this up to the developers to answer.

Hi Kevin,

we never started implementing IA2 since IBM promised to contribute their
IA2 implementations (Lotus Symphony is based on OOo) back to OOo.

It's been a while that they promised it, but we never received something
usable right now, because Symphony is still based on OOo 1.1, and they
would need to bring IA2 to OOo 3 code line.

I hope this will finally happen, as Michael Karasick promised this end
of last year at the OOoCon in Bejing.

Actually, IA2 was derived from OOo's Accessibility API (UAA):

Hello,

I am a blind user.

I use an open source screen reader called nvda.

I would like it if Ia2 was added to open office I hope I have got the
Pronunciation of Ia2 correct?

Yes open office does work with nvda but with quite a lot of fiddling
around.

You have to install the java access bridge then you have to run a
registry hack to switch accessibility on.

I am using lotus synthony at the moment as it has Ia2 support built
right in.

I am not a programmer so please bear with me!

I used to use open office and to be onist would like to go back to it
but just think it's such a hassle to get OO working with the screen
reader thanks in advance.
