As a relatively new user of Fedora 12, I find there are some differences in respect to special characters.

In win XP I used the clipboard viewer and saved a whole library of special characters, phrases and more as .CLP files.

I have not seen this facility in Fedora 12 to date, although it may exist.

However there are a number of alternatives:

One is to formulate an .ODT file to use as a library to copy and paste. This has the added advantage of being able to be sectioned, organised and the sections hyperlinked.

Amongst my many self-created templates, I have one (attached) that I find especially useful.

1) Copy it, then Paste the new filename (less ".ODT) and no final punctuation) in the properties field, and then look at what happens to the pages.

2) When inserting tables and sections, be sure to leave a blank line before and after each, in case you later need to insert other data in between. Otherwise you may not be able to insert the later data without a complicated work-around.

On occasion you may also be forced to have an unwanted blank line at the top of a particular page where you really don't want it.

Simply select that line and reduce the font size for that line to the minimum of 2.

enjoy!

If it is merely a question of using different languages, the easy solution may

For a paragraph of more, switching keyboards is usually a simpler
solution than using macros, or strange keystroke combinations.

I don't actually know whether Linux can do it, but I suppose it must.

Linux also has that capability.
With both KDE and Gnome desktops, there is slightly more flexibility in
keyboard setup, than Windows offers. The downside is that to take
advantage of that flexibility, one has to dig into the keyboard
configuration files, using a text editor.
