A lot of this might shortly become academic as TDF and in particular LibreO begin to come into being. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Oracle/SUN fiasco which is resulting in LiberO/TDF fork is going to become what "we" (tinw) formerly considered as OOo. Personally I don't really see OOo as something that's going to remain free, but LibreO will take over where it left off. AIUI, the way the structuring is coming about, they'll even be picking up the very annoying problems and some outright bugs in OOo since day one and forever-ignored and correcting them as the final content begins to take form. If those things happen it will solidify my choice of Offices for a long time to come. I also disagree with comparing OOo or LibreO to Microsoft Office. These are simply word processors like Word Perfect, ABI and all the rest; it is AN office suite, NOT a clone. One will do what the other doesn't in some cases and vice-versa. The only use of MS or any of the others is for comparison purposes when trying to clarify a description or problem one needs to get across and IMO usually is a poor way to do it than to just plainly describe it precisely. Any of the honchos here know: How much longer will OOo be available/downloadable from OO.o? Is this particular group going to become oracle/sun or will it become TDF or Libre or what?
