REGARDING Another question... hypertextual naviation Dear PPIG'ers, Yet another of my questions about research papers! I hope you don't mind! In attempting to make sence of some results I have collected relating to some software maintenance experiments, I have been looking at some psychology research papers relating to cognitive reference points, cognitive maps and some more general stuff about spatial reasoning. This is all connected to how a programmer may proceed to find his or her way throughout a significant software system - to what degree does spatial knowledge play in the comprehension activity where hundreds and thousands lines of code are used? I would like to find a few papers from the area of hypertextual naviation - which is loosly related to this (i.e., if a code browser is created which uses hyperlinks to particular sections of code - what are the effects on the programmer?). Can anybody point me towards a book or a paper which is related to this area? Many thanks to all! Chris Douce ----------- Software Management Group UMIST, Manchester, UK.
