John,

>>Does anyone know of studies investigating the effect of casing on readability of
>>program source code?
>
>You may find some useful data in this book:
>
>Baecker, R.M. and A. Marcus (1990). Human Factors and Typography for More Readable
>Programs. Reading, MA, Addison-Wesley Publishing Co. (ACM Press).

This book is full of interesting ideas and wonderful examples.
However, it strongly tends towards the source code as visual art
point of view.

I wonder if using any of their major ideas would reduce programmer
costs (some of the minor ideas, such as increasing the visible size
of the comma, appear to have obvious advantages).
