Personally I don't like BlueJ (but it's better than vi, though so is entering the text on handsiwtches in hex at the console). For all my script work I use Komodo which uses colour rather helpfully. Also worth a look. (It doesn't let you set the typeface for different items though - I might mail the developers and see how easy it would be to add that)
