HI Dave, I had the same issues .. it was cumbersome to always locate the java process and kill it.
I have a shutdown restlet ... where it can be told in secs when to shutdown .. in my soln. it isn't a guarded restlet but I think it should be Ideally JMX would be the solution for stopping starting containers etc. Cheers Piyush
