Hi Folks, I'm working with a startup here in San Diego, SmartDrive Systems (see http://smartdrive.net). SmartDrive mounts cameras on commercial vehicles that are constantly recording video, audio and vehicle information. When an event triggers the camera (either sudden g-force, driver hitting the panic button or other inputs) the camera saves off the previous 10 or so seconds of information, and records the next 10 or so seconds of information to static memory.
When the vehicle returns to the parking lot, the camera transfers any saved information to the main system. The transfer occurs over 802.11G systems that cover the customers parking lot. I'll be talking about some of the equipment we use, some of the challenges we've faced, and some new software that is helping us fit into customer networks better while increasing the level of security in our system.
