Folks, There are currently 20 SkyPilot SkyExtenders on Ebay with about a day to go. They are being sold by someone in Villa Park, CA in lots of 5, possibly from MetroFi's defunct Riverside network. The current bid is $0.99. The shipping & handling on these things is about $80, but if it's possible to pick them up and avoid that, ~$0.20/SkyExtender would be a steal.
I have taken one of these apart from the defunct MetroFi network in Portland. Inside, there are two Atheros radios (an AG-621S a/b/g card and a Ubiquity SR2 400 mW b/g card), two pigtails, a Trimble GPS device, a PepLink WINTI board, a cool-looking-if-maybe-useless 5.8 GHz sectorized antenna array. The PePLink board is based on an ARM922t CPU (Micrel/Kendin KS8695P), has 32 meg of RAM and 16 meg of NOR Flash (2 chips * 8 Meg), single mPCI slot and single ethernet. I'm looking to get OpenWrt on it, currently have JTAG working, can read flash, working on a replacement bootloader (either u-boot or redboot). I'd be happy to share what I have figured out with anyone who wants to join me hack on them. If I lived closer (I'm in Portland, OR) and didn't have to worry about the travel and/or shipping charges, I'd bid on them. -- Russell Senior, President [email protected] _______________________________________________ SoCalFreeNet.org General Discussion List To unsubscribe, please visit: http://socalfreenet.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_socalfreenet.org
